Athletics Federation  of Nigeria said yesterday that it was inviting students living in Abuja and its environs to tomorrow’s Grand Prix that will showcase top athletes from many countries.

“From primary to secondary schools and to the universities too; they are all invited to the Grand Prix in Abuja,” said President of the federation, Solomon Ogba. Dr. Ogu, chairman of the Media and Publicity subcommittee of the AFN  added that  “athletes from so many countries will be competing and we are inviting staff of their embassies to come and cheer these athletes.

Ogba said that AFN has plans to take track and field to the schools and the grand prix may so excite some of the students that they may take to the sport.

“Let’s celebrate track and field, it is an open invitation to all,” Ogba said yesterday while also preparing for the Mobil sponsored All Nigeria Open.

Athletes from USA, Italy, Jamaica, Kenya, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Ivory Coast, Ghana etc will be competing. There will be morning and evening sessions.
