By Anayo Okoli

Umuahia—THE crisis brewing in the Abia state chapter of the ruling Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) seems to be deepening as one of the major stakeholders in the party in the state and the elected chairman of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, Chief Anthony Agbazuere, has dragged the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to court, challenging the replacement of the elected state chairman of the party with an appointed chairman.

The NWC of the party, had in a letter dated May 8, 2009, by Dahiru Musa Abdullahi, the party’s National Secretary, appointed Ezeogo Onuoha to replace Elder Kalu Eke Kalu, as the elected chairman of the party, claiming that he (Kalu) resigned for personal reasons.

However, controversy has since trailed the said resignation, as the camp opposed to his change claimed that he was forced out against his will.

In fact, a source from this group alleged that Elder Kalu was only few days ago summoned to Abuja headquarters of the party and allegedly forced to resign, several weeks he was said to have resigned.
