Yar’Adua listens to people’s yearnings — El-Ilory

National Coordinator, Yar’Adua/Goodluck Campaign Organisation, Muhammad Amir Abdulqadir El-Ilory, has declared that President Umaru Yar’Adua listens to the yearnings of the people.

El-Ilory who made this known in a statement, said President Yar’Adua had not only been true to his electoral campaign promises to Nigerians but insisted on the execution on the 7-Point agenda wholly.

The statement read in part: “Our attention has been drawn to the dimension some ill-motivated interest groups that have been trying to introduce to a mere expression of personal opinion by the new Central Bank Governor, Sunusi Lamido Sunusi, on the 7-point agenda of this administration and the incidental response from President Umaru Yar’Adua.

“These group of persons want to present President Umaru as a rigid and uncompromising ruler. We want to correct this wrong, false and absurd impression which does not in anyway depict the true character of Mr President. Far from it, President Yar’Adua listens and he compromises whenever it is in the best interest of the state to do so.”

We recall that at the interactive sessions during the PDP Presidential campaign, some demands were made on the President and he consistently stated in unequivocal terms that developing one sector or a few  of sector of the Nigerian economy at the expense of the other major sectors would do the country more harm than good.

He canvassed for a wholesale approach to the development of the key sectors of the economy which formed the 7point agenda.
