Royal father appeals to Fashola over salary

LAGOS— The Oba of Ifako Kingdom, Oba Taofik Oyeyinka Fatusi-Obawole, has appealed to the Lagos State government to review upward the salary of Obas in the state.

Oba Fatusi-Obawole made the appeal at the Ifako/Ijaye town hall meeting organised by the state House of Assembly which took place at LASU Museum, Agege, yesterday.

According to him, what Oba are currently being paid is not enough to take care of their families and their subjects who bombard them with their financial needs regularly.
His colleague, Oba Riliwan Oluwalannbe Taiwo of Ojokoroland, corroborated him, adding that both the Oba and the people are starving.

“If roads are constructed and there is no food on our tables, there is no way we can go out to use the roads. So we want the House of Assembly to do something regarding our salary,” Oba Taiwo said.

In his welcome address earlier, Oludayo Fafunmi, representing Ifako/Ijaye 1, complained of the situation where Iju water works is located in the constituency yet the people of Ifako/Ijaye have no water to drink.

Other demands of the residents include over-head bridge for Pen Cinema area, pedestrian bridge for Abule-Egba, construction and repair of roads, vocational training centres among others
