PDP’s chance of winning future elections in S-East slim — PPA

ENUGU— THE Progressive Peoples Alliance says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  has a slim chance of winning future elections in the South East over the alleged relegation of the zone to the background in the scheme of things in the country.

Making the assertion in a statement issued in Enugu, National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Ben Onyechere said the PDP has abandoned the people of the South-East to their fate while pampering some other sections of the country.

According to him, “the chances of PDP winning any state from the southeast  in  the future election is foreclosed for reasons ranging from the current relegation of the South East to a distant fifth and the total abandonment of the zone by the party in power.

“In the past ten years, attention has shifted from the South East to the South-South because of loss of focus by leaders from the zone who  have  rather settled for personal gains  rather than the general welfare of the people.

“The unprecedented level of crime, particularly the issue of kidnaping which, if not properly addressed,  may  escalate to an  uncontrollable  stage is a result of the low job creation in the zone.

“Never in the history of Nigeria has the south east been utterly relegated with reckless abandon of unimaginable proportion. In the past, the masses of the South East were deceived to vote the PDP only for a few leaders to divert the gains to themselves. The Igbos are now ready to take their destiny in their hands by speaking with one voice against the PDP at the polls.”
