Super Eagles fringe  player and Bayelsa  United defender Chibuzor Okonkwo says he will not be dorning the colours of 2009 Globacom Premier League Champions Bayelsa United come next season. The bulwark at the heart of Bayelsa United’s defence says he has achieved what he wants with Bayelsa United and it was time for him to continue his ambition in Europe.
Okonkwo who did a yore mans job in the last Premier League game with Warri Wolves in Oleh, was excited about leading to the coach Monday Odigie team to lifting the Premier League title.
“I am so happy. At last I achieved this set target. At the beginning of the season no one gave us any chance of lifting the league title but we had confidence that we have what it takes to win.
After 37 weeks, it dawned on us that we had only a game to becoming the Premier League champions. We went into the last game with determination not to lose to Warri Wolves in Oleh. We were aware that Heartland could spring a surprise in Minna and we wanted nothing to disrupt our celebration, so we went all out in Oleh.
Wolves also had their pride to protect and they came full blast at us and that made the match very tough. After 90 minutes the score line was 2-2 and Heartland were 0-1 down in Minna. There and then we knew that Bayelsa is the new Premier League championsâ€, he said.
