The Nigerian Association of  Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has lauded HYGEIA Foundation for its contribution to the healthcare industry in the country.
NACCIMA President, Dr. Simon Chukwuemeka Okolo, stated this while welcoming members of the HYGEIA Foundation who were on a working visit to New Era Hospital, Aba.
The NACCIMA boss who is also the CEO New Era Group of companies, commended the organisation for what it has been able to do in helping private sector health institutions deliver better services to their clients.
He pointed out that efforts of government to improve on health care delivery to the people may not bear much fruit if the private sector is not fully incorporated in the programme.
Okolo said that the volume of service provided by health care operators in the private sector has clearly made them indispensable in any genuine government effort to provide real and better health care for the people.
“We want a situation where the private sector will be fully involved in what is happening in the health sector and not mere appendages. There is urgent need to educate government policy makers to realize the need to carry the private sector along if, Nigeria must meet it MDG’s in health care delivery as expected,†he said.
Responding, the Executive Director HYGEIA Foundation, (an NGO working with Global fund to provide ARD services to Nigerians) Dr. Fejin Adewusi, said the Foundation is the only NGO working with health establishments in the private sector to provide better ARD services to their clients.
She further stated that New Era Hospital Group meets their expectations in terms of largeness and volume made it clear that the Hospital will serve as referral centre in the organization’s scheme of services.
