N150m scam: Govs contributed to funding — House Leader

By Tordue Salem

ABUJA — The Leader of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the House of Representatives, Tunde Akogun said yesterday that the just-concluded retreat for members held in Kano and Uyo was partly funded by Governors, as he exonerated himself from allegations of misappropriation of funds that were voted for the capacity-building event.

The Leader enjoined his colleagues to ignore the ‘rumours’ making  the rounds as according to him, taking heed could cause a division in the House.

The Leader in a statement by his Senior Information Officer, Austen Adesoro, said “the host Governors complemented the efforts of the House in making members very comfortable and ensuring the success of the event, which is in harmony with African hospitality” and “urged members of the House to disregard the ugly rumours making the rounds as this was capable of causing disunity in the House”

Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha had earlier refuted allegations of fraud leveled against him by a Group seeking his removal for allegedly misappropriating part of a vote for the celebration of “I0 Years of Uninterrupted Democracy in Nigeria ”.
