Staff of MTN Nigeria last week embarked on series of community-based activities under the company’s annual staff volunteerism programme, tagged “21 Days of Y’ello Careâ€. The exercise, which is the 3rd edition is expected to take place in all its 21 operations in Africa, Asia and the Middle East simultaneously.
Flagging off this year’s edition in Lagos, Chief Executive of MTN, Mr. Ahmad Farroukh said this year’s edition, MTN Nigeria is focusing on the environment in line with the global efforts to stem the general deterioration of the environment. Farroukh also stated that Volunteers will also pay attention to the health and the general well being of Nigerians.
Reeling out the activities mapped out for the 21 days exercise in Lagos; he noted that the staff will be engaging in sanitation exercises, tree and flower planting, rehabilitation of public schools’ football pitches, breast cancer awareness campaign, hospital and orphanage visitations, HIV&AIDs sensitization lectures and health check-up exercises, football tournaments among numerous activities.
Corporate Services Executive, Mr. Wale Goodluck also hinted that MTN Staff are also being encouraged to give away personal effects that they no longer need, but which can be of tremendous value to the less privileged members of the society. He said the materials are being collected in huge yellow baskets placed at convenient locations in all the company’s offices nationwide.
Goodluck explained that “for this edition of 21 Days of Y’ello Care, we are again going all out to put smiles on faces and make a difference in the lives of many people.†He said the 21 Days of Y’ello Care is consistent with MTN’s commitment to contributing to the socio-economic well being of its host communities.
