A 25 years old, Osuji Gerald was on Thursday arraigned before an Ojo Magistrate court for allegedly swindled one Chukwuemeka Odimaka to the tune of N4,500,000. Gerald was accused of committing the offence with one Mary Momoh. The incident was said to have taken place in July 2008 at about 10a.m at Alaba International Market Ojo, Lagos.
Ekene Gerald was arraigned on a four-count charge of obtaining the sum of N4.5 million under false pretence from a company Star Eagles Wings Nigeria Ltd. Besides, the accused person was said to have stolen property worth the sum of N4,500,000 from Chukwuemeka Odimaka.
The charge read that “you Ekene Gerald ‘m’ and one other at large on or about the month of July 2008 at about 10 am at Alaba International Market, Ojo in Ojo Magisterial district did conspire to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap. C17 Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2003.
“That you Osuji Ekene Gerald ‘m’ and one other at large on the same time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district with the intent to defraud, did obtain the sum of N4, 500,000 from one Chukwuemeka Odimaka ‘m’ under the pretext to invest same in your company, Star Eagle Wings Nigeria Ltd. which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 419 of the Criminal Code Cap. C17 Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2003. “That you Osuji Ekene Gerald ‘m’ and one other at large on the same time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did steal the sum of N4,500,000 property of Chukwuemeka Odimaka and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap. C17 Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2003.
Four men charged with damage of vehicles
A 24 years old, Taiwo Badmus along with three others have been arraigned before an Ikeja magistrate court on a three count charge of stealing and malicious damage of four cars belonging to Oni Adekunle, Akintunde Adedokun, Olawale Afolabi and Onibode Rasaki valued N7.8 Million.
The incident which allegedly happened on May 19,2009 along Coker/Ogunmokun street Mushin Lagos and Arowoye street Mushin, Lagos, when the accused persons were said to have maliciously damaged four cars and stole four car stereos valued N34,000 belonging to the complainants. The offence according to the charges, preferred against them by the police, is punishable under Section 451 of the Criminal Code Cap 17 Volume II, Laws of Lagos state of Nigeria 2003.
The accused persons however, pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties by the presiding magistrate, Magistrate A.O Isaac.
Woman charged for destroying wrapper
One Raima Bello has found herself in trouble, as she was docked before an Ojo Magistrate court on a one count charge for allegedly unlawfully damaging a wrapper, stove worth N20,000.00, property of one Helen Okeke. The accused was said to have willingly carried out this act at Agbabiaka Close, Ilogbo, Ajangbadi Ojo Lagos, at about 9.40am on April 27, when she had a minor disagreement with the complainant.
The charge preferred against her read,“that you Raima Bello on April 27, at about 9.40am at Agbabiaka Close, Ilogbo at Ajangbadi in the Ojo Magisterial District did unlawfully and willfully damage wrapper-cloths and stove valued N20,000 property of one Helen Okeke and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 451 of Criminal Code Cap17,Vol.2,Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2004. The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail by the presiding magistrate at the sum of N20,000.
N5 million malicious damage, ‘Am not guilty— Accused
Two men Yaya Tajudeen and Musa Bukar aged 23and 23 respectively were arraigned before an Ojo magistrate court, Lagos, on a three count charge of conspiring amongst themselves to commit felony to wit stealing. The accused persons according to the charge, carried out this offences on the January 20, 2009 at about 01:00hrs at AML bonded terminal, Abule Osun in Ojo Magisterial District.
The charge preferred against the accused persons read, “that you Yaya Tajudeen, Musa Bukar and others at large on January 20, 2009 at about 01:00hrs AML bonded terminal Abule-Osun in Ojo Magisterial District did conspire among yourselves to commit a felony to wit stealing thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 77 Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria ,2003.
“That you Yaya Tajudeen ,Musa Bukar and others at large on January 20, 2009 at about 01:00hrs AML bonded terminal Abule-Osun in Ojo Magisterial District did steal wall tiles in a container number MSCU112024-4 valued N778, 500 at AML bonded terminal, properties of Jomason Investment Ltd and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 190 of the Criminal Code Cap 77 VOL.2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
“That you Yaya Tajudeen ,Musa Bukar and others at large on same date, place and time in the aforementioned Magisterial District did maliciously damage Almaco Glass kept in a container No. GLDU548678-0 value at about N5 million at AML Bonded terminal, properties of Capital Consortium Ltd and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 451 of the Criminal Code Cap 77 VOL.2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria ,2003.â€
They pleaded not guilty to the charges. They were admitted to bail.
