Dutse — Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State has stressed the need for the mass media to disseminate information that will promote the cultural and political values of African continent.
The governor made this assertion in Dutse yesterday while receiving the Head of Hausa Service of Radio Germany (Radio Deutsch-welle), Mr. Thomas Mosh, saying the station’s Hausa programmes had been impressive.
Enumerating the role of the media in a democratic society, Gov. Lamido said the media must continue to focus their reportage on promoting peace and security of the continent.
Speaking earlier, Mosh informed the governor that he was in Jigawa State to assess the progress made so far by the present administration of the state and how best the radio station could contribute to the development of the state.
Mosh who said he was impressed with the level of development in the state, disclosed that Nigerians were the largest listeners of their Hausa radio programmes in Africa.
