Agagu added that in furtherance of efforts in providing conducive learning atmosphere in all schools in the state, the government has awarded contracts for the construction of six-classroom model school blocks in 100 schools across the state's three senatorial districts.

He added that another N1.24 billion contract was awarded for the supply of furniture for students, head teachers and teachers.

“It is an addition to the 200 six-classroom blocks earlier awarded in the year which construction has reached advanced stages.

“Apart from the six classrooms, each of the blocks has the headteacher’s office, library, computer and science laboratories with basic amenities,” the Governor said.

He added that his administration would continue to make learning attractive and conducive in all primary and secondary schools in the state through provision of necessary infrastructure, equipment and encouragement.

The administration, according to the governor,  had constructed no fewer than  10,000 modern classrooms in schools across the state in the last five and half years to replace the dilapidated structures in the schools and also renovated no fewer than 300 school buildings.

The governor said the huge investment of the administration to the primary and secondary sub-sector has started paying off in terms of better academic performance of pupils from public schools in the state, attendance in classes and increasing enrolment.
