Useni denies apple theory in Abacha's death E-mail

One time Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni (RTD) has dismissed the ‘Indian apple’ theory surrounding the death of his bosom friend, the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha saying there was nothing like that.

He said at an interaction with journalists on Monday that the rumour that the former Head of State

died after eating an apple from some Indian girls was strange to him. He also said he was unaware of the claim that his (Abacha’s) death was masterminded by some foreign interests opposed to his administration.

There are apples in Nigeria. Why do we have to bring apple from India? These are just what some people were saying to discredit the administration.

"There was no apple from India. I am an Indian-trained officer and I never saw apple there, so I don’t know what people mean when they talk about bringing apples from India. It was just a figment of some people’s imagination" he said.

General Useni who confirmed that he was the closest to General Abacha, said the claim that he was killed by agents of some foreign countries could also not hold since the autopsy did not reveal anything like that.

According to him, "Nigerians don’t believe that someone can die a natural death. So even if someone is sick and he eventually passes on, they will find a reason for the death. But I am not aware that anything like that happened, otherwise the autopsy would have revealed it"

He said he bore no grudge against anyone over the way he was edged out in the succession game after General Abacha died adding, "people created the impression that anybody close to Abacha was bad and I was the closest to him, so they felt it should not be me. If God allowed it, so be it, I don’t hold any grudge against anybody"

Useni said there was no love lost between him and former President Olusegun Obasanjo which explained what he went through under his (Obasanjo’s) administration but said the truth was now coming out and the people now knew better.

The evil that men do live after them. someone was bold enough to have written about Babangida and I am sure Jeremiah Useni will one day come up with detail of what transpired at Aso Rock during Abacha period. We should all learn that power belong only to God. He should explain to Nigerians all about the revealations been heard in the court through Roger. Enough of our past leaders wasting our precious time. God put Abacha there and removed him when he wanted to plung Nigeria into crisis. God put Obasanjo and removed him after the second term that was why God didn;t allow the third term, we can boldly say God is in Nigeria.

I hold nothing against Jeremiah Timbut Useni, but I was dissappointed with his statement that 'Ken Saro Wiwa was killed in the national interest', whose national interest was he talking about? A man was judicially murdered by a despotic illegitimate government. Useni comment is very embarrassing to the millitary, this nation and all men of goodwill. 
How would Jeremiah Useni feel if anybody comes up to make this same comment about the sad death of his wife and son? 
Sometimews we should put ourselves in other peoples place, and see how it hurts.

Useni, don't worry, they will settle you. Tell the right people - especially your governor (the governors are ruling and dictating everything to Mr President)

GENERAL USENI HAS HAD A GREAT AND GOOD LIFE IN THE NIGERIAN ARMY AND HE HAS GOD TO THANK FOR EVERTHING. IT WAS UNFORTUNATE HE LOST HIS WIFE TRAGICALLY IN ONE OF THE MANY AIRCRASHES IN NIGERIA. HE MAY NOT HAVE RULED NIGERIAN DIRETLY BUT BY PROXY VIA GENERAL ABACHA HIS BOSSOM FRIEND BUT IT IS STILL NOT TOO LATE TO CONSUMATE HIS LAST FRONTIER AS NIGERIAN HEAD OF STATE--AS WHO KNOWS, NIGERIA MAY ONE DAY TURN TO HIM FOR LEADERSHIP IF GOD SO WISHED IT. AFTERALL, GENERAL OBASANJO CAME FROM PRISON AND THE GALLOWS OF PUBLIC EXECUTION TO RULE NIGERIAN FOR 8 YEARS! ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE IN NIGERIA.

Whether Abacha died through apple sent from India or grown in nigeria and whether Useni believed He died from eating the apple or not.Whatever must have killed him at that period when our beloved country was almost collapsing because of them (Useni/Abacha\' government) has done well to salvage our country.If the apple theory is true then it is God sent. Useni and the likes should stop reminding us of those evil days.

What I think is ,if Useni says Abacha didn't die by apple poison then what else killed him.As we all know he (Abacha) wasn't sick as Useni claimed neither was he assassinated . I'd really like to know from the said 'closest friend' what killed Abacha.

How Abacha died is not the issue now,lets put that aside and face the reality.what has happed has already happen.All hands should be on desk in order to take our nation to the promise land.

No doubt for me that Sani Abacha was murdered. The then Head of state could not have died a natural death due to the way he maximally held on to power to continually kill his country men who were opposed to his style of rulership. Useni is merely trying hard to cover himself with the glory he does not deserved. He is like a drowning man who wants to hold on to anything that he touches to be go down with him.Has he forgotten the way he uses the then UNCP to shut peoples' mouth? Has he forgotten his theories of tossing a coin by him to determine who wins election? Has he forgotten how he smuggled one Vivian Anasodor as the winner of FCT chairmanship election? Has he forgotten how he used his aged mother to rig election in Plateau state where Solomon Lar was gnashing his teeth? He is one of the persons who deceived Abacha to destroying himself. In fact, he should not be given these coverages you guys have been giving to him. If it is not the "apple theory" that killed the maximum "ruler", then Useni knows more than we know, therefore should tell the police all that he knew.
