According to him, the Malaysian investors who have indicated interest in the project will soon arrived the country to assess the city and city. “We are thinking of developing what we call airport city. We have already discussed with some investors from Malaysia ; now, we are waiting for them to come to Nigeria to see the airport and city. “We have acquired enough space for that development, but we have not gone very far yet,” the governor said. Governor Aliyu said the state was currently interfacing with Capital Airlines to enable it commence direct flight operations to Minna. He said , beyond Capital Airlines, efforts were also on by the government to woo some other airlines to fly direct into Minna Airport . He said: “ What we have done in the past four months is to enter into agreement with Capital Airlines for the movement of people from Lagos-Abuja-Minna. But Capital Airlines and other ones will start operations very soon.” Governor advised his colleagues to de-emphasise their over-reliance on oil revenue, blaming oil for the nation’s economic problems. “Over-reliance on oil revenue is wnat caused the nation’s economic problems. States should concentrate on areas they have comparative advantage and promote co-operation among themelves. “In Niger State, we have started developing our agricultural sector and expects that states like Lagos that have no land should co-operate with us, while they also explore development of resources in their territories,” the governor said. |
