The free screening exercise for Diabetes and hypertension was flagged off by the co-ordinator of Ijaw Monitoring Group, Comrade Joseph Evah at the weekend at the Navy Barracks, Ajegunle where thousands of Niger Deltans took part in the first leg of the two day exercise.

Speaking on the occasion, Comrade  Evah said the exercise was part of his appreciation for Nigerians who stood by him in prayers when he was admitted in Hospital in Nigeria and abroad, adding that he preferred the “medical test option to thank Nigerians because of the inadequate knowledge and awareness of symptoms, signs and effects of ill-treated hypertension and diabetes cases which have increased the incidence of sudden death in the country.

He stressed that the exercise will be extended to other Nigerians in due course. The  IMG boss asked the Federal Government to establish free medical test centres throughout the country.

The mobilization of persons including women, children and the elderly for the exercise was carried out by Ijaw communities leadership forum South-West, while Dr. Clarkson Agagha, the special assistant to the co-ordinator IMG, Comrade Joseph Evah on health matters supervised the exercise conducted by six other doctors and nurses.

Commenting on the exercise, president of Ijaw communities leadership forum, Chief Shedrack Agboro thanked the IMG co-ordinator for carrying out  the exercise for the sake of the health of Niger Deltans.
