In a statement issued in Onitsha at the weekend, chairman of board of trustees of INTERSOCIETY, Mr. Emeka Umeagbalasi said that as a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Falana has contributed immensely in professionalising the Nigerian Bar and the Bench, which he observed, have not taken their pride of place since the 1962 Legal Profession/Education Reform.

According to him, Falana’s award was “a collective consolation prize for a fraction of members of the Nigerian Bar and the Bench who have refused to join the looters and plunderers of our collective patrimony, which have afflicted and impoverished the Nigerian masses.”

“As a human rights and rule of law advocate, Comrade Falana has indisputably become the leading credible critic voice in Nigeria . His achievements in these areas are too many to be mentioned. We found the award totally acceptable, meritorious and well deserved.
