DUTSE—FORMER Minority leader, House of Representatives, Alhaji Farouk Adamu Aliyu representing Buji and Birnin Kudu federal constituency in Jigawa state at the House of Representatives has condemned the move by the ANPP leadership to participate in President Yar’Adua’s Government of National Unity (GNU), saying the party leaders have not constitutional right to accept the offer.
Alhaji Aliyu who contested for Jigawa state gubernatorial election under the ANPP, stated this at Birnin Kudu disclosed that the party’s National working committee is currently studying the implications of the involvement of the party’s National Chairman and his Secretary in to the GNU. The former lawmaker hinted that as soon as they committee completes its assignment, the party will come up with a standing position to expel or suspend both of them from the party over what he described as the breached of the party’s constitution. He declared that the ANPP constitution is very specific on the involvement of party members in an opposition party government, adding that as leaders of the party they are suppose to be the custodians of members confidence. Said he “This is an utter violation of the party’s constitution and we are presently analysing the situation so as to come out with a resolution on either to choose one of the two, that is to remain in their new appointments and quit the ANPP or quit the appointment and be with us”, said the former lawmaker. |
