As the storm seems over for recuperating Super Falcons pint sized attacker, Vera Okolo, she is hoping to join in playing the round leather ball next year as she attributed her quick recovery to God and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their support so far after several years of pains and agony.

Okolo, who alongside Blessing Akusobi had been out from active football due to knee injuries, sustained playing for the National team, is optimistic of coming back on her feet soon, she said in an interview with SundaySports. According to her, she has been under-going some light training which has been keeping her fit.
“ I give thanks to God for hearkening to our prayers. At this point I have been doing one training or the other which have been keeping me moving. I believe we have been doing some training to make sure both of my thighs are the equal, but God willing I will be back and better in the field of play very soon, ” she said.
Okolo however, thanked the NFF for the assistence rendered to her and Blessing Akusobi for making things go well with them after several years of pain, agony and fears of a possible sad career end.
“I must confess the NFF have been supportive, they have ensured that we are well again,” she added. Meanwhile, the petit attacker has called on sports officials in the country to focus more on early preparation before indulging in any competition as it will go a along way to improve sports particularly female football.
The diminutive Super Falcons player Vera Okolo who is recuperating from a knee injury warned the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to start preparations early or face the risk of having a repeat performance of Beijing Olympic Games. Vera, who has began light training with the assistance of a physiotherapist, revealed that she was greatly disturbed with the performance of the Super Falcons in Beijing.
The striker said in an interview Sunday Sports that if Nigeria prepares properly, with good coaches saddled with the task of knocking the team to shape, Nigeria will avoid disgraceful exit she suffered in China. Vera clamoured for coaches in the mould of national U-23 coach Samson Siasia to handle the Super Falcon, stressing that only the best hands is good enough for the Falcons.
“Female football has gone beyond the NFF selecting coaches who lack the necessary experience and skills to handle the team. Now the team needs the best coaches, so that they can achieve results. Yes, we have conquered Africa, now is the time to conquer the world. With teams like Brazil, Germany and the United States of America, we definitely need to prepare well”, she said.
She also praised her teeming fans for their support towards her. Vera operated upon in Germany alongside her friend Blessing Akusobi . Both players are recuperating at the national Institute of Sports in Surulere, Lagos
