According to www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com the facilitators of the poll, Nigerians from different parts of the world tapped into the global opportunities of the internet to vote for their favourite stars and at the end of the poll spanning about 3 three months (started in June), Rita Dominic came out tops with the highest vote, followed closely by Genevieve Nnaji.
“We were overwhelmed by the massive reactions we received from Nigerians from all over the world. You need to see their interesting comments to value their approach to glamour and movie industry.
“Dressing is not how much it cost you to buy your Tommy Hilfiger, Prada or any label but wearing the right thing at the right time.
We have taken photos of most of the best red carpet events in Nigeria and found out that in the process of imitating Hollywood stars, our celebrities often make some obvious mistakes,” Niyi Tabiti said.
“Apart from the votes, we took a step ahead by consulting with about 40 journalists and celebrities and at the end, Rita also emerged as the first. On and off screen, Rita continues to be a pacesetter in her well turned out fabric.”
N48m up for grabs in the NSL...
By Lolade Sowoolu
They fizzled out quietly when the titans clashed last year but now they are back; better and in grand style. The National Sports Lottery (NSL) has resurrected from compelled hibernation and is now ready to thrill Nigerians with a N48 million give-away draw on the 1st of November this year.
Speaking last Thursday in Abuja, the Chief Executive Officer of National Sports Lottery (NSL), Dr. Odunlami Kola Daisi attributed the company’s brief hiatus to the resultant effect of very lethal opposition from the government, people circles and the environment.
All these however, is in the past as “the NSL is now endorsed by the president... and it is a very comprehensive resolution,” he assured.
In what he described as the “largest poverty alleviation scheme the government can ever have,” Dr. Kola Daisi says the company has at present put to gainful employment between three hundred and four hundred Nigerians and by December, when fully functional, an estimated one hundred thousand (100,000) people are expected to have become employed directly or indirectly by the NSL.
Coming down to nitty gritty, the CEO announced the independence give-away, whose draw was originally supposed to take place on the 1st of October but failed to hold due to publicity lapse.
The raffle draw which will be beamed live on Africa IndependentTelevison is now slated to hold on the Saturday 1st, November, and will produce the winning six digits.
Successive draws will hold on the 8th and 15th respectively and if by the latter date, there is no winner with the six digit combination, the player with five of the six winning numbers combination will be declared winner of the N48 million.
The big one will not come until January 1st, 2009, when a lucky lotto player will be welcomed into the new year with a million Naira.
