AN interdenominational thanksgiving service, sponsored by the Delta State Government, was held at the Word of Life Bible Church, Ajamimogha, Warri, to mark Nigeria's 48th independemce anniversary. The state government machinery moved from the state capital, Asaba, to the oil city, Warri, for the maiden
thanksgioving service on Tuesady, September 30. The state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, used the occasion to declare September 30 of every year a Thanksgiving Day in the state.
“After all we have been through in the state, we still have good reasons to thank God for peace in the state” he said. He led the congregation into a praise and worship session, saying “like every father, when you praise God in the right way, He will just be nodding His head, after which He will shower His blessings on you. He will give you good ideas to make money, He will give you divine health, prosperity, good wife, good husband, peace that passeth man's understanding and long life.”
He decared that for as long as he remains governor, Delta State will always celebrate September 30 as Thanksgiving Day. We present images fron that service. Shots by Sam Eyoboka.
