Incest: 16-yr-old gives birth to dad's son E-mail

IBADAN — THE incestuous relationship between a father and his daughter in Ibadan has resulted in the birth of a baby boy named Samuel. Samuel, now one-month old, is with the Oyo State Youth Development Council, while his 36-year-old father/grandfather, Olaolu Adeleke, is being held at the Agodi Prisons on a three-count charge.

Mr Kehinde Akinyemi, the Principal Social Welfare Officer at the Council, said yesterday in Ibadan that Samuel was in good health, but needed blood transfusion.

“We are consulting with the management on the issue,” Akinyemi said. It was gathered that Adeleke turned his 16-year-old daughter (name withheld) into his bedmate after divorcing the mother some years ago.

Adeleke had been arraigned before Chief  Magistrate A. Bolaji on charges of unlawful carnal knowledge, threat and intimidation and attempt to kill.

Police Prosecutor, Benjamin Akindoyin, told the court that the accused committed the offences, punishable under Sections 284 (3), 358 and 509 of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. 11 Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria.

The prosecutor said that the accused committed the shameful act between Dec. 2007 and March 2008.

When the case came up for hearing, it  was adjourned till Oct. 20 because the Chief  Magistrate was on her annual vacation.

This is an incestous statutory rape that draws severe punishment.We are looking at 7-21 years in most western socities. But in the Nigerian context,how long and who takes care of the kid while dad is in prison? Will our backward gov't step up to the plate and give regular monthly financial support to the mother until the child turns 18 ? But please, begin with a reliable paternity test.

This Ola Adeleke MONKEY should get the maximum number of years behind bars for this devilish behavior; it's only monkeys that behave this way. His lawyer should NEVER be allowed to get away with insanity plea to free this bushman!!
