Imo govt to ease water scarcity in Owerri

OWERRI—Water pipelines currently located along roads in Owerri municipality and adjoining villages that are undergoing dualization will soon be re-aligned by the Imo State government, to ease the water scarcity in the state capital.
The Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Chief Ralph Nwosu, disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri.
“The temporary hardship being experienced was meant to bring permanent solution to the perennial problem of traffic congestion, especially in the state capital”, Nwosu explained.
Answering a question, the Commissioner said that the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport will start work on all the bad spots in Owerri metropolis, stressing that this will assist in the free flow of traffic in the state capital.
In a related development, a delegation from four local council areas of Owerri North, Ikeduru, Ahiazu Mbaise and Ehime Mbano have solicited the assistance of the state government in the rehabilitation of roads in their respective areas of juridcition.
The roads under reference are Nkwo Emeke/Achara Ubo road in Owerri North local government area, Umuagwu-Abo Ebikoro-Uzoagba-Avuvu-Amakohia-Okwu-Ugurike road in Ikeduru local council area, which also cuts across Ahiazu Mbaise and Ehime Mbano council areas.
Addressing the Commissioner on behalf of his colleagues, Engr. Cyril Osuji said that the roads, when constructed, will alleviate the problems of many communities and promote economic activities in the state.
Responding, the Commissioner promised that government would continue to do what it can to alleviate the suffering of the masses.
