Anambra, Yar’Adua’s policy similar — OBI E-mail

AWKA—ANAMBRA  State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, has said that President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s administrative style has a lot of similarities with the Anambra Integrated Development Strategy (ANIDS), which is the development approach formulated by him as a vehicle for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) in Anambra State.  Speaking in Awka, the governor said both the Presidency and Anambra State placed immense premium on sustained economic development, security, stability and the deepening of democracy, as well as in the rule of law, people-focused leadership and an all-encompassing and holistic approach to development.

According to him, like the President, he abhors quick-fix methods which, he observed, are ephemeral, remarking that it is only a holistic approach that could bring Anambra State and Nigeria out of the woods.

Sharing the President’s concern for infrastructure deficit in the country, Obi observed that as Yar’Adua is doing at the federal level, the Anambra State government has revolutionized the transport sector in the state by streamlining its insurance/licensing procedures through the automated vehicle registrastion, which is already in operation.

He recalled that shortly after he was sworn in 2006, he secured a loan from the Nigerian Agricultural Bank and disbursed same to indigent Anambrarians, just like Mr. President has pursued a policy of sustained support for small scale farmers and structured development of medium and large scale agriculture.

The governor said he is working towards the actualization of the Orient Petroleum Resources Limited, a venture that would see Anambra produce gas to be used to power industries.

HOW CAN A GOVERNOR BE DEMANDING FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND NAIRA (#500,000.=) EACH PLOT FROM AKPAKA RESIDENT OF HIS STATE ANAMBRA BEFORE HE CAN CONSTRUCT ROAD FOR THEM, IS THAT THE DIVIDEND FOR DEMOCRACY OR DEPRIVETION OF DEMOCRACY? WHERE SOME OF THE RESIDENT MANAGE TO BUILD TWO BEDROOM WITH SITING ROOM INSTEAD OF YOUR GOVERNMENT TO ENCOURAGE THEM THE REVERSE IS THE CASE, OR DO WANT TO TAKE OVER THEIR LANDS BUT PRESIDENT UMARU MUSA YAR'ADUA IS NOT HEARTLESS, WICKED, AND GREEDY LIKE YOU SO I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE SIMILARITIES YOU MEAN. I really thank God for the opposition house members in Anambra state if not that, the stingy man in control of that state could have shown that state, Anambra how to save money and siphon money, the opposition are marking him step by step because some of them know him very well and what he can do if given any chance that is why he is been so slow to work unlike the president as he is claiming. You know what our president declared when he resumed office even after 8yrs as a governor, can this Mr.Peter Obi tell you how he made his money. He is a greedy man how can he liken himself with Yar'Adua who is not stingy and greedy like him.

It's only the shortsighted, greedy, selfish soul that can not see any thing good in all that Peter Obi is doing.They believe in washing outside of the cup while the inside remains dirty, accrediting most of our hospitals and equipping most of our schools at all level are a sure way to begin, a time shall come when the likes of Chuks Umeh and his co-travelers will be singing that Peter Obi remains the best thing to have happened to Anambra state. I can see every similarity in Peter Obi's approach to that of Yar'Adua, most importantly their zero tolerance for corruption, those who don't see and appreciate the good in others, I wonder if they shall ever see good in their life. Any leader that makes the interest of the masses his priority remains my ideal leader and shall lead and live long.

Without critisizing Gov. Peter Obi,I want to ask this urgent question.Why did the construction workers leave the Nnamdi Azikiwe after destroying the former coal tar that was thereon.If the government knew that action would be stayed for such a long time,they would have left the residents to keep managing the former glory instead of the muddy mess we see after the rain.I feel bad about the whole scenario,even the okada riders refuse to go through that road,that`ll tell you how bad that road has become.Remember,the eke-awka market is at the middle and man must wack.

How can any sane individual say that governor obi is selfish, greedy,stingy etc? My suggestion is that such people should have an immediate psychiatric assessment. People should stop using words that they don't understand their meaning or insulting mr obi just to be heard. If mr obi's refusal to allow these political armed robbers, para-sites and enemies of the people to continue with business as usual is what they are refering to then God help anambra state.Anambra is no longer a banana republic and it is high time we start recognising and respecting our genuine leaders. As an ihembosi indegine living in the uk,I have not benefited directly from the government but the facts on the ground are pointing to the fact that mr obi is one of the best things that has happened to anambra state. Once more please let us give mr obi a chance.If some body like cardinal Francis Arinze could see the good work mr obi is doing, could these hired blind detractors not visit guinness eye centre onitsha for appropriate checks?
