In bid to promote better healthcare for Nigerian mothers, Rotary Club of Magodo Central has donated medical equipment to facilitate access to quality and safe healthcare services for pregnant women in Ikosi-Isheri Primary Healthcare Centre in Ketu area of Lagos State.
Speaking during the presentation, All Star President of Rotary Club of Magodo Central, Rotarian Adeshina Kadri said that the donation of medical equipment was to improve services delivery at the PHC.
Kadri said that their donation was based on the pressing needs of the centre, “Aside from the rebranding of the building, all medical equipment such as delivery couch, blood pressure apparatus, thermometers for blood sugar, weight and height scale among others were presented based on their assessment needs of the centre.”
He explained that part of their priority as a humanitarian Club was disease prevention and healthy living which they have successfully carried out in different parts of the country.
Appreciating the gesture, the Medical Officer of Health, Ikosi-Isheri PHC, Dr. Foluso Oyewole pledged that the equipment will be well managed since proper usage will facilitate such gesture in the future.
“Before now, we have only one delivery couch but with this donation we will be able to take two deliveries at a time.
Also the new scale equipment will enable us to take both weight and height of the patients at once.”
On his part, the National Coordinator, National Heart Awareness Campaign, Mr. Abiola Awe urged Nigerians to seek appropriate information on how to preserve their heart, “a lot of heart -related diseases are due to ignorance, so we are going to be carring out heart awareness campaign in this LCDA starting from the 5th of April with focus on healthy lifestyle and dietary changes.
