OneLagos Fiesta: Super Glo-ing influence on entertainment industry

A LOOK at the king of  data, Globacom’s sponsored One Lagos Fiesta (OLF), it wouldn’t be out of place to say that the highly impressive eight-day annual event is ranking among the very best musical festivals around the world. In addition to supplying supper entertainment for those in attendance, the fiesta afforded them opportunity of worrying less of the many travails experienced during the out-gone year as they danced all through into 2017.

Coupled with the fact that fans enjoyed the rare privilege of seeing their choice artistes perform live and even going as far as having a hand shake, One Lagos Fiesta also became a platform on which new talents were discovered.

Innovative entertainment

The show which held at different centres across Lagos, such as Ikeja, Ikorodu, Epe, Badagry and Lagos Island, gave Lagosians equal opportunity to enjoy real non stop entertainment supplied by both A-list artistes as well as up and coming musicians. The major hub of activities which hosted the Lagos State governor and other top officials, was the Bar Beach centre. The sponsorship for two consecutive times by Globacom was marked by innovative entertainment and a wide variety of side attractions that made the fiesta an unforgettable one for Lagos residents.

For the duration of the fiesta, Globacom’s pavilions in all the five locations were the main attractions to fun-seeking Lagosians. Present at Globacom stands at the fiesta were facilities for snookers, table soccer, mock on-the-sport kick, and video games. “Karaoke night” which enabled Lagosians to try out their singing talent and win freebies, Comedy night, which featured some of the most popular comedians in Nigeria, dancing competitions and many others, were other varieties introduced.

Adding colour and glamour to the show were a rich array of Globacom’s brand ambassadors who rank among Nigeria’s best entertainers. One Lagos Fiesta  initiated by the Lagos State government finally came to a climax with a sublime grand finale at the Bar Beach, which wore a total glamourous look throught out the fiesta.

The grand finale was a beautiful climax featuring a talent hunt, high octane musical performances by some of Nigeria’s biggest acts, with a VVIP attendance list including the Executive Governor of the state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

Spell binding performances

It was wrapped up by spell binding performances from up and coming artistes such as Ketchup as well as accomplished stars like Olamide, Nomoreloss, Dare, Korede Bello, Dija, Reekardo Banks among numerous others.

African Rapper Number One and Globacom Ambassador, MI, Juju Maestro, King Sunny Ade, street music mega star, Olamide, Mavin Music Diva, Tiwa Savage, ‘Orente’ crooner, Adekunle Gold, and dentist-turned song writer and singer, Dr. SID also stormed the stage one after the other, giving Lagosians exciting performances fit for a cross over.  Hundreds of fun lovers responded as they danced their way into the New Year while fire-crackers lit up the sky at midnight, sending reverberations of excitement around Victoria Island and beyond. there was no dull moment as celebrations continued well into the early hours of Sunday, 1st January, 2017.

People-oriented network

At the Ikorodu centre on December 26, Nollywood actor and Glo ambassador, Odunlade Adekola, who was at the Glo stand, attracted fun-seekers who abandoned other stands just to see and touch the celebrity. Odunlade described Glo as a truly people-oriented network because of its commitment to entertainment owing to the level of support it is giving to the One Lagos Fiesta.

He said he was proud to identify with the brand. Visibly excited dance teams also expressed gratitude to Globacom for giving them the opportunity to prove their worth to the world.

The One Lagos Fiesta talent show tagged ‘Lagos Has Got Talent’, saw the discovery of young and new talents from across the state through a highly competitive contest in which youths across five major divisions of the state danced, rapped, did comedy and acted drama to earn the admiration and pass mark of the judges.

Finally, Master Ogunlaja Ahmed, a.k.a Mr. Dollar, from Epe Division emerged the overall winner, while Blessing Akiote (Agege) and Flexible Twist were runners up. They went home with superb prizes from the State Government as well as Globacom.

Globacom through its coordinator, Business Enterprise Group, Mr. Folu Aderibigbe, restated its support for the government of Lagos State in its efforts to boost the profile of the state and improve the quality of life of its residents.

He disclosed that the company is committed to the growth and development of the state, just as it is committed to supporting the growth and passion of its customers. He promised that Globacom would continue to partner with the state government in projects that are aimed at enriching the lives of the people adding that “The company was delighted to be the exclusive telecom partner of the initiative for the second year running.
