A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the founder of Oganiru Anambra, Dr Alex Obiogbolu, has advocated a coalition against corruption if the nation hopes to record any success in the war against the societal ill.
The former Anambra State governorship aspirant, in a paper he presented during the 2016 annual seminar of the Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria, Onitsha Region titled, ‘Curbing the culture of corruption in our society’, noted that corruption will not go away until a coalition is set up against the scourge.“Apart from the game of football, one other thing that unites Nigerian citizens is the war against corruption.
Yet, despite all the regime changes in the past and all the campaigns of anti-corruption, corruption is just refusing to go away,”he stated.
The PDP stalwart continued: “I have always said that building prisons and arming Policemen would never make crime go away so long as social inequalities and deprivation exist.
It is on the same plank that I continue to advocate that unless the different spheres of the society form a coalition against this monster called Corruption, it is bound to destroy our country.“Corruption borders on morality and for corruption to be controlled or eliminated it starts with the individuals in the society to say enough is enough with corruption and resolve to transform their lives for the better to erase that canker.
