As Nigeria, yesterday, joined the rest of the world to mark the 2016 International Teachers’ Day, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has felicitated with all the Teachers in Nigeria, even as it urged the Federal Government to prioritize teachers’ welfare.
In a statement by the National President, NANS, Comrade Chinonso Obasi (IBB), GCNS, he urged governments at all levels, particularly the Federal Government to prioritize teachers’ welfare as a deliberate commitment to place our learned population in competitive edge in global sphere.
In the same vein, he also felicitated with members of the National Youth Service Corps (Batch B, Stream 1, 2015) that passed out yesterday, saluting them for their contributions to National Peace, Unity and Progress of Nigeria.
“We admonish you all to continue to be good ambassadors of our nation in all spheres of human endeavour. We call on government to create massive entrepreneurial schemes that will turn around the high rate of unemployment currently bedeviling our nation leading to high security challenges.
“It is high time our leaders began to position the youths for the future. Our nation cannot survive when we continually bake graduates without gainful and expressive job creation policies for self-sustainable living and robust economic growth. We wish you all best of luck in your future endeavours,” Obasi said.
