Ado-Ekiti—The crisis of confidence between the Ekiti State House of Assembly and Governor Ayo Fayose has claimed a victim, as a member representing Ikole Constituency 1, Gboyega Aribisogan was, yesterday, removed as Information Committee Chairman and immediately replaced with his colleague representing Oye Constituency 1, Samuel Omotoso.
The removal of the embattled lawmaker is believed to be a prelude to his recall from the Assembly.
Aribisogan was accused of holding secret meetings with some aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state and Senator representing Ogun East, Buruji Kashamu and a Lagos-based lawyer.
He was summoned by the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges chaired by Samuel Jeje where a purported audio file capturing his (Aribisogan’s) voice was played,
He described the whole saga as a well orchestrated attempt to deflate his rising political profile adding that the audio tape which was played at the panel sitting to indict him was “a superimposed voice-over to tarnish his reputation.”
Speaking with newsmen, in a telephone chat, yesterday, shortly after appearing before the panel, Aribisogan disclosed that he was questioned whether he met Kashamu and the Lagos lawyer before the controversial audio was played to him.
His words: “The so-called audio was a superimposed voice-over to tarnish my reputation. At the panel’s sitting, there was a presentation of inaudible voice-over claiming that they recognized my voice and I discarded it as a cheap blackmail.
