Governor Ibikunle Amosun has called for the regulation of industrial use of gas and cylinder for the safety of the citizenry.
The governor stated this during his keynote address at a stakeholders seminar on effective implementation of code of practice for liquefied petroleum gas storage tank/stoppage vessels management and it’s safe handling by Standard Organisation of Nigeria in Abeokuta.
The governor, represented by the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, Chief Bimbo Ashiru, urged manufacturers and industrial companies to put in place safety measures in the usage of gas and cylinders for industrial to avoid danger.
Amosun stressed that although, the use of cylinders are gaining momentum, the governor however, said that the usage of firewood by people should also be discouraged because of its inherent danger to health of the citizenry.
The Director- General of Standard Organisation of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Abolona said the purpose of the seminar was meant to train people on how to use and maintain the instrument of liquefied petroleum gas. She however, commended the high level of commitment from the stakeholders in their level of compliant to ensure that standard products are produced and manufactured in the country.
