Ismail Gata believes Ifeanyi Ubah F.C’s 2-0 win over Akwa United has boosted the team’s morale as they continue their chase for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title.
Gata, who came off the bench to score a second-half penalty, insists they controlled the match at the Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium against the Promise Keepers. “It is a victory that does wonders for morale given how the game went,” Gata told Goal.
“We lived up to our potential and controlled the match.
“We created chances at will and, in the end, it was a very deserved victory. “This win is the reward for all the hard work the squad has achieved.
“There’s plenty of expectation surrounding this team in the remaining matches of the season.
“We’re getting stronger. When we play like we did in the second half, we’re capable of achieving something when the season comes to a climax.
“We showed all our determination. We never let our heads drop and we gave it everything.
“With all the quality we have, we can go a long way.
“The victory sees us continue our progression and head off to the international break on a winning note.
“We played together, like a team, and there were some excellent passages of play.”
