The Acting Governor of Zamfara, Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala, has charged the people of the state to be security conscious.Wakkala said this on Monday when he paid Sallah homage to the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello at his palace.
He said relative peace had been restored in the state which had suffered in the hands of armed bandits, kidnappers and cattle rustlers in the last three years. Wakkala advised the people not take chances of the situation by being so free with strangers that might come their way.
He said the state government would remain grateful to the Federal Government for the bold steps it took to address the security issues in the North West particularly in Zamfara. Wakkala said that the launched of a military operation tagged “operation harbin kunama” in July, by President Muhammadu Buhari, helped the state to address security issues.
He promised to carry the same message to all the 17 emirates of the state, and assured them that the state government would continue to support security agencies in the fight against all criminals. In the same vein, Wakkala urged Nigerians to be patient and prayerful over the current hardship, noting that “better days are certainly coming soon.”
In his response, Bello thanked the governor for the visit saying traditional rulers in the state would always cooperate with governments at all levels to make life more meaningful for the citizenry.
