THE Head of Service of the Edo state Government, Mrs. Gladys Idahor has described as “pure mischief” and untrue, the allegation that the state government had directed civil servants to wear armbands on the day of election with a view to voting for the APC.
Mrs. Idahor who expressed shock over the reports, warned the PDP against dragging Edo civil servants into their politics, asserting there was no meeting where civil servants were directed to wear armbands.
According to her, “we normally hold our usual meetings in the office and in fact the one we held last week did not even take us ten minutes, and it dwelt on pure issues in the civil service and had nothing to do with elections. Nobody raised any issue of the election there, and that was why I was shocked to read such reports in the media.
“People should be able to say the truth at all times and not to damage the image of people in the name of politics. What has the forthcoming election got to do with the normal meeting of the service where nobody even mentioned anything regarding the election and of course we cannot even do that because it is not our business to start directing civil servants to wear armband on the day of election.
