Uyo—A former deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Nsima Ekere, has thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Mr. Umana Okon Umana as the Managing Director of Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority.
Umana was the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Akwa Ibom State in the 2015 election.
Ekere, who is the Managing-Director designate of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, in a statement, yesterday in Uyo by his media assistant Mr. Inemesit Ina, described Umana’s appointment as meritorious and a welcome development.
He said: “It is clear that Mr Umana was chosen on merit given his education, experience, exposure and capacity. The appointment has demonstrated all those attributes in his previous appointments at the state level.
“Mr. Umana is an outstanding economist, a consummate administrator and an astute politician and I have the confidence that he would deliver on the new and challenging assignment.”
