Sapele—Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Monday Igbuya, has called on his constituents to pay up their electricity bills before they can agitate for improved electricity supply.
The Speaker who made the call during his constituency briefing in Amukpe, Sapele Local Government Area of the state, said: “First of all, you have to pay your electricity bills up to date before you can exercise your right to agitate for improved electricity supply. As such, do not expect improved electricity supply when you do not pay up your bills.”
He spoke when the people confronted him with the problem of epileptic power supply over the years in the area and their agitation over the years which has not yielded any fruit from the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC.
It will be recalled that the electricity company recently announced that electricity bills indebtedness of Sapele runs into billions of naira, and that it was consequently finding it hard to provide constant electricity supply to the area, urging the area to “pay up,” as it was working towards providing improved electricity supply to the people.
