Yola—Governor Muhammadu Jibrilla of Adamawa State, his cabinet members and other top government functionaries spent the Eid-el-Kabir sallah celebrations with internally-displaced persons, IDPs, at Malkohi camp on Tuesday.
The celebration at the camp, which is the first of its kind to be undertaken by any chief executive of the three states since the beginning of the insurgency in the North-East of the country, was aimed at giving the displaced persons a sense of belonging.
The governor, while addressing the victims of insurgency, urged them to regard the plight as the will of Almighty God and called on the people of the state to support their cause.
Jibrilla appealed to well-meaning individuals and corporate organisations to continue to rally round government in its efforts to make life more meaningful for the IDPs.
Responding of behalf of the IDPs, Mr. Dominic Samuel lauded the gesture of the governor.
“This is the first time a governor and his entire cabinet would come to identify with us during a festive period of this nature,” he noted.
