PORT HARCOURT—The remains of four Marine Policemen floated in the early hours of yesterday, on Abonnema River in Akukutoru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Meanwhile, the whereabouts of a gunboat they reportedly were in was unknown at press time.
When contacted, the state Police spokesman, Omoni Nnamdi, said Police would soon come up with a statement on the incident.
“We are still working on our report; I will get to you with it,” Nnamdi said.
Vanguard gathered from community sources that the marine policemen, who left the jetty in Abonnema, headquarters of the council in a Marine Police gunboat, were reportedly attacked by suspected pirates.
Details on the incident were still hazy at press time.
