THE Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has solicited the support of the FCT minister and other stakeholders towards the success of the 2016 edition of the annual Abuja carnival which will hold between Nov. 19 and Nov. 22 with the theme “Creative Industry: A Pivot to Economic Growth’’.
He made the plea at a meeting of the management committee of the carnival, co-chaired by him and the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Mohammed Bello, last week in Abuja.
In a remark before the meeting went into closed door session, Mohammed noted that the carnival was not an exclusive project of his ministry and the support of the FCT Administration and other stakeholders would be needed for a successful outing.
The FCT minister said that the territory being the prime beneficiary of the annual event, he would be delighted to be part of it. You can be rest assured of our partnership and needed support towards the success of the event,’’ he said. The Managing Director of NAN, Mr Bayo Onanuga and the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Mr Yakubu Mohammed attended the meeting.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Culture, Mrs Ayotunde Adesugba and the Director, Entertainment and Creative Industry in the Ministry, Ms Grace Gekpe also attended the meeting. The annual Abuja carnival features road shows, music, cultural dances, masquerades durbar and lots more with participants from the 36 states and the FCT.
