The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, yesterday, stated that over 1,118 truckloads of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol, bearing about 39.958 million litres of the product have been deployed across the country.
Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Mr. Garba Muhammad also disclosed that the country has over 17 days sufficiency of fuel, which is over 680 million litres of the product, while nine vessels belonging to oil marketers and the NNPC are currently discharging the product at various depots/jetties nationwide.
This was even as the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) Interim Committee on Reconciliation and Distribution disclosed that some unscrupulous marketers are engaged in the diversion of petrol to neighbouring countries.
In a statement signed by its Secretary, Engineer Lawson Ngoa, the IPMAN committee vowed to checkmate the unwholesome practices carried out by these persons and others who are into hoarding and diversion of the products, thereby, exacerbating the scarcity in Nigeria.
