President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick has paid glowing tribute to the Super Eagles players for what he described as the huge motivation the federation is getting from them ahead of the make or mar 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) double-header qualifier against Egypt this month
Pinnick told sports journalists in his office yesterday that he has been receiving calls from the foreign based players assuring him of their readiness to give their all to ensure that the nation goes to the tournament billed to take place in Gabon.
He also added that the coaching crew led by Samson Siasia is working round the clock to ensure that the boys were in good shape ahead of the clashes.
“I want to reveal to you that the boys are even motivating us by their rare show of concern about these two matches. Every now and then I receive their calls assuring me that they are ready to outclass the Egyptians. Yes they like every other Nigerian will like us to qualify and hopefully we will qualify.
“However on our own part, we are doing what is needful to make sure that they give their best. As we speak, the federal government has given us the approval and already we have started processing the payment of their outstanding allowance from their last match and I know that this time they will get all that is due to them.
“Even in Egypt, we have made arrangement for their comfort and I am convinced they will like the arrangement.”
Pinnick further used the opportunity to explain that it was not deliberate that the NFF could not meet most of its obligations, blaming such on the genera economic situation of the country at the moment.
