At least 22 people were killed in an overnight jihadist attack in the Burkinabe capital Ouagadougou, a security source said Saturday, adding that the toll may yet rise.
“There are at least 22 dead,” in the attacks by Al Qaeda-linked gunmen which targeted a hotel and a nearby restaurant, the source told AFP. Earlier, the head of city’s main hospital said 20 people had been killed.
Also Burkina Faso’s President Roch Marc Christian Kabore Saturday visited the hotel where 22 people were killed in an attack by jihadist gunmen just hours earlier, an AFP journalist said.
There was no immediate comment on the attack from Kabore, who took office just last month and is expected to try to reform the army in a country with a history marred by coups.
