OSOGBO—The selection process of the Giesi Ruling House of Ile-Ife for the candidate(s) to the vacant stool of Ooni may be heading for the rocks as six out of the seven royal houses of Giesi ruling house faulted the screening process headed by the Prince Yinka Aderibigbe committee.
The aggrieved families have vehemently protested the composition of the committee, saying that the selection process has been allegedly skewed to favour a particular royal family within the ruling house.
They also argued that the composition of Professor Aderibigbe led committee put in place by the ruling house does not reflect the representatives of all the seven royal families in Giesi Ruling House.
The royal families within Giesi Ruling House are Moniki Royal Compound; Waniki Royal Compound; Luugba Royal Compound; Debooye Royal Compound; Idu Royal Compound; Idu-Ofin Royal Compound and Agbedegbede Royal Compound.
It was learnt that though four names have been pencilled down to be presented to Ife Kingmakers for onward presentation and ratification by the state government, all the names purportedly selected were from Agbedegbede Royal Compound.
In the protest letter addressed to the Ife ingmakers by six of the seven royal families, signed by Ven Samuel Ishola Ojo from Moniki Royal Compound and Prince Babatunde Olafari Olasaare from Luugba Royal Compound, the aggrieved families alleged that the screening exercise was a one man show.
