Uyo—GOVERNOR Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has threatened to dismiss principals and heads of primary schools in the state who are found mismanaging subventions to schools.
Emmanuel made the threat following widespread allegation of embezzlement of subventions by heads of primary and post primary schools in the state.
It was learned that the development forced the state government to stop the monthly lifeline which was instituted to sustain the free education policy of the state.
Speaking in Uyo after restoring the funds to schools, Emmanuel warned school heads in the habit of mismanaging the fund to stop forthwith or risk prosecution and dismissal from office.
He said: “This government will not tolerate any further mismanagement of subventions given to schools and any school head found guilty of this will not be spared.
This administration is committed to zero tolerance to corruption. This must be a standing practice to all public officers in the state. I assure you that this government will lay proper foundation for empowerment of future leaders. I charge basic education administrators to ensure holistic implementation of the policy by curbing indiscipline among pupils and students including loitering, hawking and violation of school ethics during school hours.”
