Lagos—For the second day running newsmen were barred from covering the proceedings of those accused of torturing siblings accused of stealing pepper at Ejigbo market, a Lagos suburb three years ago.
One of the three women tortured, Nike Agomo, 17, continued her testimony yesterday before Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of an Ikeja High Court.
At the resumed hearing of the trial, journalists have to vacate the courtroom as they were told the lady still continue with her testimony.
Those charged are Isiaka Waidi, 61; Saheed Adisa, 29; Lateef Tijani, 37; Ahmed Adisa, 65; Azeez Akinosun, 36; Jimoh Busari, 50; Adekunle Adenuga, 38; Oloruntoyin Dauda, 46; Buhari Yusuf, 22; and Abdullahi Haruna, 20.
In an amended charge, the defendants were accused to have at Oba Morufu International Market in Ejigbo inserted a stick into the private part of Nike Salami and Juliana Agomo.
They were also accused of assaulted one Ajoke Agomo by stripping her naked, beating her up and rubbing pepper all over her body.
