CHAIRMAN of Burutu Local Government Area, Chief Ebikeme Clark has called on the Niger Delta Development Commission ,NDDC , to commence the protection of the shores of the Council headquarters from erosion.
He also called on the agency to consider the possibility of providing portable water for the community.
Ebikeme, who stated this during a visit to the commission’s Director of Project, Mr. Tuoyo Omastuli, lamented that the absence of portable water in the Council is responsible for the prevalence of waterborne diseases.
His words: ‘’The terrain is such that to get drinkable water from the ground is very difficult and expensive. There is need to protect the town from being washed away by erosion.. We visited the NDDC as an Interventionist Agency to passionately appeal to them to come to the aid of the Burutu people.’’
