Former ASUP Chair condemns attack on Auchi Poly rector

By  SIMON EBEGBULEM

BENIN CITY-THE former Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi in Edo state, Pastor Okosun George Okosun has condemned what he described as the sponsored campaign of calumny against the Rector of the institution, Dr. PhiIipa Idogho.

A group had accused the rector and her husband, of allegedly running the federal institution like their personal estate.

But Okosun described the allegations as figment of their imagination, saying that “there is no truth in the publications save to malign the character of the Idoghos who have worked hard and are still contributing their best to human capital development of the Afemai land in particular and the country in general.

“The Rector’s incredible fit by dint of her hard work both in human and capital development stands her out as an Amazon amongst past Rectors of the institution and she should be allowed to be. The sundry allegations are no doubt product of a disenchanted and disgruntled group who has been clamouring for the removal of the Rector for no just cause.

“And having failed in their bid, now felt they could use the author of the article obviously for a fee to further orchestrate the blackmail. As a former ASUP chairman and a priest speaking from the alter of God, I can tell you that no one staff especially, academic staff can be cowed into silence by any individual or group of individuals from any maladministration as the publications would have the public to believe.

He said “the author and his accomplices took counsel in a fragile alliance of conspiracy to unleash a diminutive onslaught channeled through a systematic status degradation ritual.  By divine twist of fate however, their devious ploy of incitement against the Rector and Federal Republic of Nigeria, has turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
