PORT HARCOURT— A pro-Governor Rotimi Amaechi group, Rivers State Leadership Advancement Foundation, RIVLEAF, has urged Rivers people to ignore ethnic sentiments while choosing a governor for the state come 2015.
Speaking, yesterday, in Port Harcourt at a roundtable organised for its ward executives in the state, president of the body, Mr Alex Wele, said Rivers people should ignore sentiments and make sure they vote a governor that will promote the good of the state.
“We call on Rivers people to disregard any primordial sentiments and join in the search for a governor of Rivers State, who is not for an ethnic group, not for a cabal or myopic interest but one that will drive Rivers State to greater heights.”
The group hailed the achievement of Amaechi so far in the state, saying “We appreciate and acknowledge the monumental development strides and other visible accomplishment of Amaechi for the period he has piloted he affairs of Rivers State.” It also enjoined youths in the state to shun violence, stressing that they should promote peace at all times.
