Asaba—FOLLOWING a stern warning from the Delta State Government, threatening to clampdown on traditional healers in the state laying false claim for cure of the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, some native healers, insisted that they were wrongly attacked.
The state government had in a statement by the Information Commissioner, Mr. Chike Ogeah threatened to clampdown on them and ordered that no such claim should be allowed to be advertised forthwith.
But the Akumazi Traditional Healers, under the aegis of Otu-Odozi Elu Association Akumazi Kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area of the state, said that it was not true that they claimed to have cure for the dreaded disease.
On plans to clampdown on them, two members of the traditional healers of Otu-Odozi Elu Association, Chief Eric Ekabudike and Chief Ulokiweri Dibie noted that the healers actually have the medicine for small pox and measles but definitely not the Ebola virus, adding that they could not have claimed they have the cure for the Ebola, which was still alien to the community.
