ABUJA — The Abuja chapter of Ijaw National Congress, INC, has given President Goodluck Jonathan 30-day ultimatum within which to declare his re-election bid for 2015 presidency.
Immediate past Chairman of INC, Abuja, Dr. Godknows Idaminabo, who gave the declaration at the inauguration ceremony of his successor, Mr. Ebizimoh Okolo, in Abuja, confirmed that President Jonathan would contest the 2015 presidential poll.
Idaminabo said the ultimatum became necessary because of the torrents of calls on Jonathan by Nigerians to declare his intention to seek re-election for second term.
According to him: “Having considered all the appeals from the North, East, West and South, the Ijaw National Congress, Abuja chapter hereby demands that President Jonathan should declare for a second term for the office of president within the next 30 days.”
Calling on Ijaw nation to be vigilant in the face of current challenges, Idaminabo said: “To the entire Ijaw nation the battle is not for the strong alone, it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. There is no retreat. Still, let us not be over-confident of a speedy final triumph.”
