Nobody died in Ejigbo/Ajao link road shooting —Police

LAGOS—The Lagos State Police Command, yesterday, said nobody died in Tuesday’s shooting around Ejigbo/Ajao estate link road by a resident who was attacked by commercial motorcyclists.

Rather, it said only three persons sustained bullet wounds , adding that they were responding to treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
Pandemonium broke out at about noon Tuesday, after a resident identified as Mr Uche Ikeobi, said to be driving out of his house hit one of the motorcyclists who parked in front of his house located on Alimi Bada Street, Ejigbo.

An argument which resulted in a fight ensued between the motorist and the victim, during which other motorcyclists allegedly attempted to mob the motorist.
Ikeobi was said to have managed to escape into his house. But the motorcyclists reportedly chased him and destroyed part of his property.
Sensing that his father’s life was in danger, one of Ikeobi’s sons reportedly dashed inside the house to fetch a dane gun which he allegedly fired,   three persons were said to have been hit.

Undeterred by the shooting, the motorcyclists according to eye witnesses still call for the landlord’s head. But for the timely arrival of policemen from Ejigbo division, both father and son would have been lynched by the irate motorcyclists.
Report had it that before the incident, Ikeobi had on several occasions lodged complaints at the Police station, on the use of his frontage as motorcycle park.
Police sources said three expended shells were recovered at the scene, while the man who fired the shot was arrested .

When the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Lelma Kolle, was contacted on phone, he maintained that no life was lost .
He said: Three people were shot but they did not die. They are receiving treatment at the hospital.”
