ABUJA — The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, has announced N2 million as fee for any electricity company seeking an extra-ordinary review of the current tariff structure before a major or minor review.
The new fee, as contained in the NERC‘s new Draft Regulations on Tariff Review, was revealed at the public consultation on Draft Regulations for Rate Review and Investment in electricity networks held yesterday in Abuja.
NERC’s Head of Tariff and Rates, Dr. Haliru Dikko, while speaking in his presentation, said: “The regulation gives a detailed analysis of the responsibilities of tariff review applicants, timelines, costs, submission requirements and guidelines to be followed when applying for a rate review.”
According to him, the extra-ordinary tariff review is only applicable to licencees, comprising distribution companies, Discos, Generation companies, Gencos, and the System Operator.
“The regulations shall only be applicable to licencees who proposed additional investments into their facilities or networks.” have not been factored in their existing approved tariff, including emergency expansions and replacements.
